The Emperor's Fist [Conceptual Stage]

Postby Empunor » Fri Mar 17, 2017 6:15 pm

I've come back to this site after two years of absence and started a new account as I have completely lost my old one.
I have never modded anything in FTL before, while I have programmed and am working on a Computer Science degree, I'm not greatly experienced. That being said I have some ideas I want to work with dealing with Star Wars, specifically a more accurate Death Star and a Slave I as what I really want to make. I will be attempting it this summer, but here's the base concept I have for now. I may add rebel alliance ships and such, but I'm a person who loves the Empire and Mandalorians so this is what I'm starting with. It'll kinda just be what I want to make. They're put in the order I want to make them. This is all just conceptualizing my ideas and putting them forth.

Slave I:
Boba Fett- extremely skilled human, flame thrower skill sets room on fire & deal damage to enemies, immune to fire.
Max of 4 crew
Two chain lasers (twin rotating blaster cannons)
Proton torpedoes (low level missile launcher, may become something you need to purchase for balance)
Engines 1
Shielding 2 (meaning 1 shield bubble)
Artillery - seismic charge, damages enemy subsystems
No drones ever
1 by 1 healing bay

Death Star II:
No shields or cloaking, ever
Zoltan shield
Max engine of 3
Lots of humans, can't acquire any non-humans (if I can make it like that, will be that way throughout all Empire ships), possible specialization of humans if I can figure that out such as a pair of royal guards who have very high attack stats but everything else is crap, effectively even more specialized Mantis, an engineer with improved skills at maning things but shit at combat, the Emperor who has an ability that stuns and damages all enemies in the room.
Focus on drones for defense
Super artillery beam (laser that deals large amount of damage, pierces shields, and travels across the entire ship, but long charge time)

Strategy: Tank, survive until you charge your artillery beam. Meant to be balanced while remaining as true as possible to the idea of the Star Destroyer

Imperial-Class Star Destroyer:
Shielding 2
Max engine level of 5
Artillery beam is a bomber squadron that ionizes the enemy ship, it isn't a very powerful artillery weapon.
Turbo Laser batteries

Executor-class
Moderately OP
Heavy Turbo Lasers (fires two shots simultaneously)
Max engine of 5
Shielding of 4

Eclipse-Class Star Destroyer
The unbalanced ship of death and destruction, OP as hell. Includes super artillery beam, drone armada, massive weapons

TIE Interceptor
Challenge ship, get one Imperial Pilot, start with four chain lasers, high engine power, can not buy shielding, low hull, no oxygen but level 3 healing... a glass cannon with high engines.

Royal TIE Interceptor
Includes one Royal Guard who is much more capable at piloting and repairs than the others but can not attain any other crew, starts with four chain lasers, medium engine power, shielding 2, healing must be bought...

Venator-Class Star Destroyer
Two weak turbo lasers
Shielding 2
Engines max level of 4
Version of laser artillery w/ smaller length but higher damage

Possible mod ideas towards the story in order to go with these ships:
Imperial Conquest: No rebel fleet behind you, increases difficulty curve, replacement of encounters with things more fit for someone who is taking over the galaxy, in effect, you are the Rebel Fleet of FTL, slowly taking over everything.
"Imperial Log: You have been given the opportunity by the Emperor himself to conquer these unruly sectors that dare oppose the Empire, show no mercy. Wipe out any resistance and the Emperor will reward you for your work"

Alternatively, you have to chase down the Tantive IV:
"Imperial Log: The plans to our newest creation, the Death Star, have been compromised. Hunt down these traitors and bring back the stolen plans."

Bounty Hunter's Resolve:
"You have taken the job of hunting down the Millennium Falcon by Lord Vader. Find it and capture the crew."
Possible choices:
1-just follow the Millennium Falcon from sector to sector
2-have it so you have to search for clues and slowly narrow your search as the ruthless bounty hunter, can go back and forth in a ring of sectors.
Both cases have you face the Millennium Falcon at the end.

These are all simply in the conceptual stage and I have no idea how possible they are, I have yet to research into them, but I wanted to give jot these down on the site.
Any suggestions are welcome, especially with figuring out a balance for the ships.
