Packing/unpacking .dat/.ftl files

Hello, looking for a possible link to a video guide on at least getting FTL on its files to a managable state, As of rn my options are to simply use sthe snip toool, photo editing software and superluminal... I'd love to have a quick walktrough on that and I would be able to go to work... THanks

My main problem Is I'd love to be able to save the resources for myself, so that i may edit/incorporate them into the game, I just don't particularly know how to extract them to my PC...
I can't particulrarly get into the files of the game, .ftl files, .xml files, etc, I'd like to be able to tap intot hose and be able to make a copy of my own so i can male a .ftl file to patch for myself
