So I took a dead end path while attempting to get the "Ancestry" achievement (to no avail) and picked up some rebels in a fleet fight and expected to finish them off before my Zoltan Shield gave out in the next fight. But it appears that the enemy can teleport back as soon as the Shield takes damage (you can see the green '1' where a laser hit in the bottom right).
They can actually teleport through Zoltan Shields even that haven't taken damage. There's a bug in the teleport retrieval code. It'll be fixed in the next update.
