				The sad truth is that there is no other game like FTL: we asked for something like this for years made out of the Star Trek license, to no avail (ok, Bridge Commander was an exception); even when Battlestar Galactica got its games made, or rather mods, it would focus on dogfighting instead of the long run and managerial perspective.

				I think "Spore" is similar to FTL in many ways. 
Looking back at older games, "Masters of Orion II" comes to mind.

				Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned EGATrek. It was an old DOS game that I loved back in the day and has a lot to it.

				Flamebreak is a rogue-like that is very similar to FTL, but instead of the space theme its more mythical greek fantasy.

				Convoy is like FTL meets Mad Max:Fury Road, definitely worth your time.

				Though it plays like gradius for the SNES, I think of it when I think of FTL. I would recommend Enemy Mind. It isn't being developed (at least to my knowledge) anymore, but it still is super fun.
