I was in sector 5 with my Mantis cruiser type A. It was quite a good run. I have managed to get full crew with 4 mantises and some decent weapons. Next jump put me in the asteroid field with rebel ship. I send two parties of mantis borders to take out the crew and used burst laser to suppress medbay. It worked nicely - well, until random asteroid hit took out two of my borders just before my teleport went online and few second later my burst laser blow up the ship with the other two borders still on it. 4 trained fighters gone ….

Literally the worst boarding crew in the world.

After losing four mantis to the Flagship, I was desperate for boarders.
Looked all over my ship; there was one human, one engi, and two Zoltans.
Fail boarders, go.


I won the game with the three worst boarding races.

Though with Advanced Edition, they're not so bad with an upgraded clonebay. Send them into a room full of enemies, kaboom, clone, repeat.

Yeah, they're at their best when you're fighting 4v4, so their explosion can damage all four enemy crewmen.

Engis, well... They try their best, you can't fault them for that. And they do have 100 HP, so they can certainly perform tanking duties.
