I believe there's currently a bug if you take the damage in the store front :) I hope to fix that. But make sure to self-inflict before making the jump to the Store beacon. Even if it is cheesy. You'll need a firebomb though, don't forget that most bombs will not damage your hull.

Asteroids are a great way to safely fine tune the damage you take and ease yourself into that "1 hp remaining" situation.

You are a genius, sir, haha. I just let a drone do my damage. And it was a tense battle. Wasn't sure I was going to get it right. I was surrounded by stores, though. So was an ideal time, haha.

So that's my somewhat on-topic advice. Make sure you KNOW where a store is before letting yourself get to 1 hp

I was impressed by the asteroid idea also. Unfortunately, I hadn't seen an asteroid field in quite some time, so I decided to try it the hard way -- careful shield management. It worked; I unlocked the Kestrel Type B! Hooray!

I had to have much more than 58 credits, though. My bill came to about 150, I think!
