That tool was PyInstaller, for which this is a
known issue.

I keep getting "Access is denied" even when I run the CMD as administrator.
Worse, ftldat.exe keeps deleting itself.

Sounds like you have an antivirus app trying to 'protect' you. (See the above posts.)

I can't actually download it from the site. Everytime I do it just stays stuck on 2.6 out of 2.8? I'm running Firefox and normally my internet is pretty fast.

				Try the alternative un/packer,
FTL DAT Manager.

Please re-compile the installer. My computer keeps pinging virus alerts all the time and it makes me highly uncomfortable. I was told this python virus bug was fixed in a later version of python or whatever. I don't remember. I just don't like that I have a virus installed.
Nevermind, I'll just switch to a non-virus editor,
FTL DAT Manager as
UltraMantis pointed out.

The author of this tool (bas) has not visited the forum in months now, so it's better to use a more recent tool that is still actively supported. There really is no virus, it's a false positive so no harm done trying this tool, but since it's outdated and unsupporetd it's better to use Dat Manager.

Incidental duplicate post. May be deleted. The other post with the edit regarding forum eating post is more up to date.
