Bug: Mind controlled crew still movable?

This is a strange bug, and will probably be hard to track down. :S
So, I was using the type C Mantis ship, on hard, and I was using my Lanius guy to slowly kill a rebel scout, by damaging its systems one at a time, doing the one-hitpoint chip damage.
While he was over there, the enemy ship mind-controlled him, and he started manning (or repairing?) the station he was on.
The weird/buggy part is, I was still able to tell him to move to other rooms, although when he got there, he didn't attack, just manned the room or started repairing it, as normal for mind-control.
I couldn't reproduce this, even in the same fight - the second time, he was completely uncontrollable, as normal.
I think what happened, was that he was standing on an orange- or red-level-of-damage room, which maybe was what caused me to still control his movement?
Or maybe it was because he was mind-controlled just as he started moving between rooms?
Either way, it seems to be rare.
