I've done this many times (essentially I do it every time I get an achievement) but this is the first time it's crashed because of it.

I was playing in the Osprey and the artillery beam hit all 5 rooms of an Auto Assault ship, and I got the "slice and dice" achievement. Amused that I could get it with the artillery beam, I hit esc, main menu, stats, achievements to make sure it was the achievement I thought it was. I then backed out and clicked "continue" and the game closed.

Sadly there is no save game to show you. I loaded the game up again and Continue is not available, nor do I have a continue.sav. I do have a prof.sav and an ae_prof.sav, not sure if they'd be useful.

Sounds like it was a problem with the game save. And without the save file, that's going to be extremely rough to narrow down. We'll just have to wait to see if anyone else reports similar problems with more data. Thanks anyway though!
