Words and letters deleting themselves

Hi,
I don't know whether this has been posted about before
but I got on FTL advanced edition today and when update bubbles and things were coming up, half of the letters were missing (e.g:he sentence says "A Mantis crew are" This is what is coming up: "A M n is cr w r")
And also a lot of things on my screen are disappearing, the AutoFire button, Jump button etc
Any ideas?
