No text in option boxes/Mouse unresponsive

Hi folks!
I'm running FTL with the minimum requirements, and it loads up just fine and looks/sounds really lovely...except that there is no text in the option boxes. Also, I can click on/select certain things (eg the 'start' button) to get a new game going, but then the controls/mouse become unresponsive (ie it doesn't respond to anything I click on). There also appears to be missing text in some other boxes, such as for weapons (on the ship select screen). I'm almost certain this is all to do with having integrated graphics, to no one's surprise
Is there any tweak to the settings.ini file that could maybe solve/help with these problems? Or any help would be welcome, obviously haha

nb. my graphics driver is up-to-date, for Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family.
