The only kind of mod I've actively wanted for this wonderful game is a hotkey based gamespeed modifier to further accelerate somewhat dull game-play some ships/loadouts provide in early game (and possibly beyond that).
For example, waiting for your Glaive Beam on the Stealth Ship B is charging up while barely any projectiles flies towards your ship is quite boring and i really think a variable gamespeed would result in a much more engaging and fun game!
Is there any mod of this sort available as of yet or are one in development?

You may be able to find an external program that would do something of this sort (you'd want to look for something to remove framerate limiting, I'd think, but I'm not certain) - as far as I know, there have been no efforts to create anything of this sort, and the majority of mods in this board are more content patches, because that's the most easily accessible form of modding available for FTL.
