Mouse clicks in game send me back to the desktop.

I love this game, but I cant play it well because every few mouse clicks the game minimizes and i am back at my desktop. The game still stays running but i need to reopen it in my taskbar. I play on steam. I have re downloaded and verified the cache but the problem persists. Please help me.

Is it a specific location that you're clicking? Does that happen with any other games or programs? Have you tried running it in both Windowed and Fullscreen? That's a very strange problem, sorry about this.

are you on a laptop perchance? i had a similar problem but the issue was not the game, but rather a "gesture" type setup on the trackpad that was alt-tabbing me or something similar when i touched it a certain way (which i was able to disable in the control panel)

Having the same issue, leftclicking on icons ingame cause the screen to flicker showing my desktop and another 3 or 4 leftclicks send me back to the desktop while minimizing the game.
Really looking forward to a fix for this even though checking the date this post was made quite some time ago without a fix being posted here.

We never heard back from the original poster, and since no one else was experiencing it that makes it hard to diagnose and fix
Does it only happen when you click on the icons? Or can you click anywhere in the game? Have you tried running it in both Windowed and Fullscreen?

@Matthew I just started playing again since the advanced release on GOG.
Im encountering this too. It happens in both native and stretched FS modes, but not windowed (a slightly different thing happens there).
Basically anything selectable (crew, weapons, systems, enemy room locations etc) seems to cause it to occur without pattern. Fortunately it does pause (if that's set up) it's just a major pain in the rear to have to alt-tab back in all the time.
In windowed mode it doesn't minimize, but I do (and often do) have to repeatedly click the same action (sometimes 3+ times) in order for the action to actually execute, this is especially true when setting up weapon shots, but seems to occur when attempting to select crew members or doors a lot too. Not as much with system power levels, but sometimes with that as well.
