Boarder drone occationaly gives order to my boarder party :(

I can't control my boarder drone. I assume this is by design.
But It is kind of annoying that every now and then one of my mantis runs away from the other mantis (in order to join the boarder drone) leaving it to fend for itself. And when I order the runaway mantis back to the first one the first one runs away because now there is a spot open next to the boarding drone.
I don't care if the drone dies but it's rather annoying when my crew member dies because the drone overrides my commands. I'm hoping this is a bug. Anyone else come across this?
