Lady Luck ( a tragic tale of turbulent travels) *Spoilers*

My last game read like A Tale of Two Cities. Started the game with the Torus, which is one of my favorite ships, and got an early luck into enough scrap to snag cloaking early, leading to a nice build of an ion blast, ion bomb and Burst Laser 2 for weapons, anti ship 1 Beam 1 and a Boarding Drone for drones. Every stat on the ship was pretty much maxed out for evasion and cover, and I went in to zone 10 with 30 missiles 35 fuel and 26 drones. Having never made it through the first round of the flagship I cheered in victory when I took out phase 1, only to be devastated as I watched the thing ftl out.

Then phase two and my good luck turns south HARD

Fucking

Drones

5 anti ship drones, 1 beam drone, a boarding drone, and a defensive drone tear into my ship hard, but with some fancy footwork, I manage to pin down the drones enough that I take out phase 2 with a little under 25 hull left to my name and to my horror my two star engineer dead from a MASSIVE burst of drone fire. Now I’m out of missiles, evade capability down by close to half, and an insanely low health. I repair what I can and head for phase three.
Sadly phase three is a foregone conclusion. What weapons I have left lack the punch to get through the shields and my crew dies screaming.

Final score 3997

I know there are supposed to be different scenarios besides evading the rebel fleet eventually, and I personally can’t wait. I would LOVE a sandbox mode to just have my ship get to an eventual godlike status and crush anything in my path :)

****TIPS AGAINST FLAGSHIP (POSSIBLE SPOILER)*****

Can recommend teleporting 2 crew to their weapons systems (one system at the time) as flagship crew doesn't respawn. Once their missiles are down and you start on their lasers, you can use cloak only against drones, which makes them way easier to handle. Also, pray to the Random Number God for being attacked by mostly beam drones, and not anti ship drones (when the enemy loses their heavy laser, the beam drones can't get through your shield, making them harmless)

More tips from me:

* You need cloaking against the boss.
* First wave: use whenever you want, possibly against 3 missiles...
* Second wave: use against the drone swarm only! Let 3 missiles hit you.
* Third wave: use against the special attack again only!

Kill as many crew as possible, but not all of them. If you kill all, then AI takes over and starts repairing!
* FIrst wave: eliminate weapon 3, then other weapons launch spots. Then proceed as you want.
* Second wave: eliminate weapon 3 and drone control ASAP. They will keep repairing drone control, so keep hammering it, or just send an away team to that location after disable.
* Third wave: if you survived until now, just save your cloak for special attack and you will prevail.

He had cloak, but yes, you pretty much can't win without it. Boarding owns the weapons systems, easiest way to take them out by far. Also, there is not much point in trying to take out drone control (unless your'e trying to make way for missiles) as the power surge drone spam still occurs without drone control.

Drone control will consistently keep a boarder drone in your ship, which means a breach every minute plus tied 2 crew fighting the drone. I prefer to disable the drone control and let the inactive drone either drift outside the ship or wait inside the ship. As an added bonus, disabled drone control disables the ~3 drones that circle your ship at all times, thus letting you keep full 4 shields when the huge drone spam starts.
With the ~3 drones active my shields start at 2 when drone spam starts, and that turns into disaster earlier than you can say CLOAK.

Oh right, I've played against the flagship about 4 times (won once), but he only had a boarding drone once, so I forgot. But yeah, if there are boarding drones around, focus all fire on their drones system, depending on your firepower if you barely take down the shields and still do damage, go for shields first and send boarders to weapons-systems.
