I was wondering if you guys would ever add mods or something like Steam Workshop support. After I learned how to flip mantis ship around in this post I decided why stop there. Lets try to add a new ship.

So I did. Here. It's was just a quick test. No rooms, no weapon mounts, no art.

At this point I can add just about anything I want from new ships, to weapons, to quests, but its not as simple as it could be.

I don't really like making mods but some people do and I could see them making some epic ships and quests.

Unfortunately, there's a big difference between replacing an art asset and adding a new one; this is obviously the mantis cruiser.
Did you just replace the ship's art and layout information, or did you actually add this as being selectable IN ADDITION to the mantis cruiser, using the cruiser as a template?

Well yeah. So modding support would be actually adding ships, I'd think. Which I'm sure they'd love to do. But probably not until after launch.

As I said its just a test. Its just a replacement of a art asset. The game doesn't support modding. That's why I was asking for it.

If I wanted to truly add it I would have to do a lot of modification to the XML which I have no plan to do. Then make a better unpacker/packer for the games dat. All of which I don't want to spend time on only to have it broken in the next patch.

So I didn't see it as something for me to work anymore on. Only something to demo and ask.
