Guys I just messed around and mounted 8 weapon slots on the kestral (see image). For those interested, it seems to work (I tried a few battles) and I put a download link with the mod. Be careful, dont use the autofire or it will crash the game (use at your own risk).

In the current state its not really playable I guess (UI is ugly, game may crash for whatever reason....), but I would be really nice to have some custom ships with max weapon slots or drone slots. I searched a little on the forum and couldnt find any mod that does this, and I am not experienced myself on modding the UI. Did anyone give it a try before, knows what are the possible caveats, or just wants to give it a go ?

After some tries, I am pretty sure there is nothing to do if you have more than 4 weapons except removing autofire. In teory, a ship with 6 weapons and 1 or 2 drones can perfectly fly and eventually reach The Last Stand (the last sector).
Sure thing, a low res. graphic will make things even worse.

Anyway, having 8 weapons means that you can only equip weapons requiring only 1 power unit... meh. :|
Has anyone ever considered a Warhammer 40,000 Mod for this game? It would be awesome!

not true. you can raise the power cap to greater than 8. the sm Polish Kit's augmented systems is a good example of this.

I am aware of that, but this implies having more Mods installed beyond this single *buffed* Kestrel. ;)
