Boarding Drones for Players, do they exist?

Post by cuthawolf »

I've had the AI use Boarding drones against me like they were going out of style, but I've literally never seen one for sale. Has anyone actually used them and I just have lousy luck?

Mantis B ship starts with one, so you might try that out if you are interested.

I've seen them, but they are very rare.

I've never actually used one, but I imagine it would be great on a ship that only has a two-square teleporter, so that you get 3 boarders instead of 2.

In addition to what everyone else has said, they also guarantee a hull breach in whatever room they land in.

this
they go to the worst possible room and do zero damage do to med bay cycling
IMHO these drones blow; anti ship one is more useful

use this dron on the boss and it will chill in one of the weapons bays and go no where

at least this way it takes a system down

They're actually quite good, but they're just like standard boarders: without support, they're useless. The easiest way to do that is to...well, blow up the med bay. Anyone who complains about medbay cycling really should take measures to easily disable them. Personally I prefer breach bombs, but most bombs do quite well. They're especially nice because people actually in the medbay are usually there because they're hurt. A well timed bomb will put both them and the med bay out of commission.

waste of combat xp to not land a kill on them.

If I'm boarding, I'm usually boarding every time I can. I usually have all of my fighters maxed out way before I actually get to sector 8. If I'm not boarding, then who cares if you're losing out on combat experience.
