sort of a take-away from star fleet battles etc.

teleport bombs and boarding parties should only be possible if both shields are down. you have to drop yours and they have to have theirs down to teleport. It's a little cheesy right now.

or some modification of that idea

Would require a rebalance of every weapon and ship

e.g.
All mantis ships would need a rework since their effectiveness is dependant on being able to send over boarders before your shields are down.

Same with bombs many ships only have one gun and a bomb they would be harmless if their bombs can't get through.

this would makes shields too good imho, shields should not be a safe from everything mod

All spoilers aside I think maybe if your shields where up that boarders would come through damaged would be nice but I don't think that you should have to put down yours to board people I mean after all you can still fire weapons through your side.

boarders have enough of a rough time as is it damaging them on the way in would make them impossible to use effectively
