Let's say one room has a lot of air in it, and the one right near it has vacuum (orange border)
I believe it would be fair if it would be possible to open the door between these two rooms and allow the air to equilibrate between them, i.e. allow a room to room air transfer in cases when the actual airlocks are closed.
Right now if a room is out of air, the only way to have it get additional air is to wait until the oxygen pump regenerates it. This flaw in air mechanics also makes letting air out much slower then it should be in theory, if several rooms are exposed to vacuum at once, by opening multiple doors connecting to open airlock.
Suggestion: Modification of air mechanics

Re: Suggestion: Modification of air mechanics
This is already possible. I do this all the time.
Open as many adjacent doors as possible to speed the effect up, keep the doors to unimportant vented areas locked.
You'll notice the room turn back to grey over time. Its not a very fast exchange, but considering that anything above ~25% (-ish, I think?) is enough to sustain crew without any health loss, you should be fine.

Re: Suggestion: Modification of air mechanics
Ha, I have been doing this all along.
I thought that opening an air-filled room to refill a air-depleted room worked. I swear that I've seen the air in the filled room go a little more pink while the orange border on the neighboring room disappeared quicker.
I'm wondering if it takes longer to fill/deplete bigger rooms than smaller ones. That would be an interesting modification as well.

I'd prefer if air depletion/regeneration were a bit quicker overall.. at least the intended air depletion, maybe not the one caused by fires.

Re: Suggestion: Modification of air mechanics
So it's just I"m not observant enough?
Either way I think air should transfer faster then it is now, since it seems to me that air regenerating is actually faster then air transfer between rooms, even if oxygen pump is only at level 1.
At the same time, if you use the button to open all doors at once, including the airlocks, air vents almost instantly for whole ship - I think that's closer to how gasses behave.
I think air should equilibrate between two rooms if the door is open in about a second or 1.5 seconds, so that both rooms have same amount of oxygen.

Re: Suggestion: Modification of air mechanics
it works but it may not be as apparent as it takes some time.
if you want to see it in action wait till you get a breech in a 2sq room. wait till the room is 100% vented. then open all your internal doors. you'll see its colour come back up.
It's a good way of dealing with breeched rooms without having to send your guys into vacuum
