FTL for IOS?

Post by The Wozard »

FTL is one of my favorite games of this year. I have had a lot of fun playing it on the computer, but I think it could still be enhanced using a touch screen. However, because almost nobody has a touch screen for there computer I propose that FTL should be ported to IOS devices(and Android). The HUD(Gui, or what ever you want to call it) is already in a great configuration for a tablet and would allow for a new set of people to enjoy this game. I have not looked through the forums much so I do not know if some one already had this idea, so sorry if you think I took it(but I didn't(on Purpose)).

Post a reply on your thoughts about this idea

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure you can already use computer touch screens as a mouse substitute, so the computer touch screen issue is pointless. There have already been a lot of requests to port FTL to Android and Ipods and such.
I hate FTL...

But I love it at the same time...

We get emails about this on a nearly daily basis, it's definitely in high demand! For now, all I can tell you is that we'll be pursuing putting FTL on tablets but as of now don't have concrete plans. We'll be sure to update people once we know more.

I've played FTL a few times at a friends house and loved it, but I thought it would be better on iOS/android. I've dabbled with some programming and (correct me if I'm wrong) FTL is in c++. iOS uses objective-C, and I surfed online and found that its fairly easy to put the two to work together. I don't know specifics, but really the only things that would need to change are an objective-c "layer" for lack of a better term between the iOS and the c++ game, and a way to package it for iOS to install. I can look more and see if I could do it myself for the port, and if I do I could sell the "layer" and package to FTL without modifications to the game of course (though I doubt I could get it at my skill level :P)

Hey, was there any mention about Vita somewhere? Did the developer rule it out completely?
Asking especially in the light of the recent Retro City Rampage/Fez/Zeboyd tweeting action:

Or android, would be damn cool.

But please please please do not make it freemium, that'd kill it.
