Right now enemies in certain sectors have advantage over the players(mainly slugs, then there's boarding parties without teleporter who can even get in Zoltan shields...), and the players, of course, get augmentations. Still there seems to be a lack of variety in battles.
For example those "for once you spot a xxx ship before them" could let you have a 10% or 20% headstart on weapons/teleporters (if you choose to ambush). And every battle could start with some little advantages to one side and some to the other side. Nothing too drastic like the aforementioned scripted events and augmentations, just to add some randomness to each battle.
Maybe even some partial damages on systems....
More randomness/variety when starting battles?

Oh, I would love that dearly, the problem, it seems, is that people are somewhat averse to randomness.
I fully support the idea, though.

I've just missed 8 consecutive shots against a rebel auto-assault (or was it a scout? didn't really recall). Granted there's two rounds of 3-blast-laser in them, but man do I hate those pesky unmanned ships with their ungodly evasion rates...TwoEdge wrote:Oh, I would love that dearly, the problem, it seems, are that people are somewhat averse to randomness.

Randomness killed my crew.
Or was it fire/suffocation, I forget.

Not havig been able to play yet, so i could be wrong. Knocking out the bridge on an enemy shop should drop the evade to Zero, and make it easier to take out the rest of the ship.
