			Hello,
I am playing FTL under Debian GNU/Linux. Since I upgraded from Wheezy (stable) to Jessie (testing), FTL has been crashing randomly. Crashes can happen during a fight, at a shop, anytime it seems.
Here is an example of FTL stdout and stderr:

I'm also running the same version of Debian and get random crashes. I have the Nvidia driver and it looks my crashes are different to yours. Does your sound work? Since I upgraded, the sound is awful - sounds completely corrupted - but no other games I have have been affected.

Sorry about the crashing! Hopefully we can get it sorted out.
The most common linux fix is to remove the libstdc++ library that FTL ships with. You just need to dig into the bin/library folders of the FTL folder to find and delete it (under x86 or amd64 depending on your system, though it can be helpful to delete both).
@Elessar: It seems to be crashing within the sound library, which is a black box to me since it's been licensed from a third party developer
Do you have any unique / odd setups with a standalone sound card / drivers / etc. that could be played with?

Sorry, I forgot to mention I'd already deleted all the library files in an attempt to cure it And download the most recent version of libbass & libbassmix from their website and placed them in the appropriate place - all to no avail.

I have a standalone (ie. non-Steam) release from the recent Humble Bundle and it crashes complaining about double free, just like the OP's.

I've been having the same problem since I upgraded from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10 (64-bit) with FTL v1.03.3 (from Humble Bundle). It never crashed when I was running Ubuntu 13.04 (I already renamed data/amd64/lib/libstdc++.so.6 to get it to run), but since the upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10 it usually crashes after a few sectors with stack traces similar to those already posted. Another issue that seems to be related (often, but not always occurs before FTL crashes) is that all sounds (eg. explosions) are corrupted. It will then usually crash while going to the next sector (or earlier). This corruption remains even after restarting FTL, but restarting pulseaudio (pulseaudio -k) temporarily fixes it. Audio from other applications is not affected.
