I experience the same issue on my acer W510 (tablet computer running on Windows 8.1 Preview), Opacity seems to be disabled.
The game worked fine on Friday (apart from quite bad performances), but as soon as I got my internet connection back, it started behaving this way. The drivers were'nt updated (Intel 9.14.3.1102), and I think that Windows 8.1 didn't update neither. (As i side

Re: Strange Font Glow
I was able to create that bug by screwing around with the events... didnt screenshot it but it looked the same.
I did forget to inculde a event between 2 choice tags... resulting in this graph bug and the start beacon event loaded on every node. So I dont know if there is maybe an error in the events.

Re: Strange Font Glow
Has anybody found a solution for this? Using the same Acer Iconia w511 as BigDumYak. such a shame as this game is perfect for the pad.
EDIT
All right, found the SOURCE for the problem, but not a solution.
THe problem is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator - disabling or deactivating it makes the game run without the glitch and you can see the game in all its graphical beauty. Unfortunately then it also lags immensely and is unplayable.
EDIT AGAIN
Been trying different versions of the driver for the graphics card. None seems to work. Only way to get it to work is to uninstall and revert back to Microsoft Basic Display adapter but as previously stated the tablet is then not strong enough to play the game.
Only two things left to do which is WAIT until the drivers are updated or the amazing FTL team releases a patch, and, of course,
