The game is on steam for $9, which is £5.55 and 6.86Euro but on steam the £ cost is £6.30 which isn't that bad, but the Euro cost is 9Euro...which means anyone in the EU is paying more for the game. (about 30% more, which is a rather bad pricing system)
Is there an actual reason for this to happen, or did they just not bother researching exchange rates to get the cost more or less equal over currencies?

Re: Steam Pricing
When you look at the Humble Store widget on the FTL homepage to buy it, is the conversion correct? If so just buy it there, and get a Steam key. You are also supporting the devs directly, and getting a DRM-free version.

Re: Steam Pricing
I know I could do that, and I likely will so I pay less, but that's not the question.
I just want to know why they're charging so much more for EU and, to a lesser extent, UK buyers.

Re: Steam Pricing
The conversion rates on Steam are Valve's standard policy. I don't know the exact reason, but I assume its because of the EU's VAT which makes it more expensive for foreigners to sell products there.
If you would like to avoid this, you can go to our website (http://www.ftlgame.com) and buy the game through that widget. It costs the equivalent of $9 (this week, $10 after launch week) and give you a steam key AND DRM-free builds for windows mac and linux. You can get around Steams policy that way.

If you're having hull problems, I feel bad for you son. I've got 99 problems but a breach ain't one.

Thanks for the reply Justin, still a touch unfair that EU loses out but at least it's cleared up some.
