Stealth Cruiser fun times.

Post by Fluffywolf »

Don't you hate it when you go through the game and you just don't find any strong useful weapons at all to replace your starting weapon and in sector 5 after nearly dying many times, you at least get yourself a weapon that will allow you to get through ships with more than two shields.

I just finished with the stealth cruiser and beat the last boss with this set up (on normal):

Weapons:
Mini beam
Dual Lasers
Burst Laser Mark II
(Total of 4 energy :P )

Drones:
Defense Drone MK I
Defense Drone MK II
(6 energy, but in hindsight, I could have done with less, perhaps just the MK I in combination with the cloak might have been enough, but then I might have to take a few hits, as opposed to take no hits at all.)

Cloak III
No teleporter

It was surprisingly easy, actually. The boss couldn't hurt me much at all, I think I lost about 3 or 4 hull damage in all three phases. Basicly I tried to save my cloak for the moment he launches his rocket volley, and just get through his shield with my lasers and minibeam three rooms (starting at the shields, in order to get them down). But the two defense drones worked really well. It was the longest boss fight I've ever had, in the first phase especially, I missed too many lasers many times in a row and couldnt get through shields and use my minibeam, but the stealth cruiser is made to survive! :D

My score was in the 4900's, but I had to spend a lot of scrap on repairs in early game.

I have just completed my first Stealth run on normal and it sounds like we did similarly. In mine I could only get enough scrap for the shield by Sector 3, and had to wait until Sector 6 for different weapons. It turned really heroic, as I browsed shop upon shop with 150+ scrap and could find no weapons ever. :)

I wasn't particularly hot with energy amounts either, so I had to keep switching off oxygen, and never have the combat and defensive drones active at the same time. Basically, I could kill stuff which had 3 shields: 2 from starting dual laser, then 1 from the attack drones, then finally hull damage from the starting mini bean.

By Sector 5 I had put together two fantastic boarding parties, 2 mantises and 2 rockmen, but still I struggled to damage their medbay first. There were autoships I could have never took down, if I could not board them and disable their pilot room and shields first. :|

Anyway, in Sector 6 I found a Breach missile: by then, I had accumulated an amount of 52 missiles in my inventory. And the last boss I did through boarding, as usual.

this is REALLY weird. i beat the game with the same equipment. what are the chances?
Are you a mantis? Do you lack ships to fight and Zoltans to chew? Look no further! Come to your nearest mantis warcamp in the Zoltan Homeworlds or Zoltan controled sector and ask for a free brochure about how to farm the Zoltan! Results may very.
