NOPE.
So, a little story about my unlocking of the Crystal Cruiser:
I was cruising along in my favorite ship, the trusty old Osprey, and I happened upon the Stasis Chamber. Thinking that I could unlock the Crystal Ship, I grabbed it. I unlocked it at the research station, and -luckily- I happened upon the Rock Homeworlds. This had only happened to me once before, so I felt very anxious. I did find that little portal device, activated it, and popped of into the secret sector.
At this point, I had this won. I rushed to the quest beacon, then suicided so that I could try the new thing out.
Fast forward to a few days ago.
I decided that, because I hadn't explored it at all the last and only time I went there, I should go find the sector again. Stupidly, I took the Kestrel B (red-tail) because I had misread an article; apparently, there will always be the portal from the unlock in the Rock Homeworlds from the Crystal Cruiser unlock on, but you still do need a Crystal crew to activate it. So, I found it, realized this, and restarted my quest with:

Misson Status: Failure.
Rock Homeworlds Found: Yes.
Portal Found: No.

Class: Crystal B
Mission Status: Failure.
Rock Homeworlds Found: No.
Portal Found: N/A
