CANNOT CONTINUE

Post by Dismiss »

Start a new game.
Save and Exit.
Check that continue.sav does in fact exist.
Launch FTL
No continue option, continue.sav does not exist.

This occurs every time in all circumstances, I can NEVER continue.

That sounds like a brilliant anti-savescumming condition you have there.

Have you tried running the game as an administrator?

That's unique. Have you tried Ray's suggestion of running as Admin?

I have the same issue and running as admin won't fix it. Maybe re-verifying the files in Steam will correct it but I haven't tried that.

What does work is after you save and quit go to the following directory:

C:\Users\<windows user name>\Documents\My Games\fasterthanlight

Copy the files in there to a backup directory. Restart the game and new empty saved files will be created wiping out the older ones. Once the game is at the main menu copy the files from the backup folder into the directory above. Amazingly the game detects new saved files and lets you continue from where you left off. I have no clue why FTL is wiping the saves every time it restarts though.

I had the same problem. I disabled steam cloud sync and it solved it - read that somewhere on this forum I think...
